Wang Xuetong, Gansu: The value of offering to society

I will never forget the day 11 years ago when I was in high school. During the lunch break, my father suddenly called me outside the school gate, wondering what was going on. It was Uncle Lai from Care Action Macao and Teacher Ran who brought funds to our poor students. As an introverted person, I am not good at communicating with others. For the first time, I met uncle Lai and Teacher Ran, who are approachable and friendly. They gave me a very cordial feeling and impressed me deeply. Uncle Lai and our dialect are a little bit different. Sometimes we can not understand, but he will repeat a sentence until we understand. Ran teacher is very simple and helps countless people with difficulties. His behavior and deeds are admirable, moving, and humbling. He is my life model.

From the first time I was helped, I became more determined to be a person of value to society in the future. For us mountain children, reading was the only ideal path.

I lived up to expectations and was admitted to Shanghai Jiao Tong University. During my work-study program, I also got many awards and grants, which reduced the pressure on my family. Since I went to school, my family and I have been living in a rented house outside the school for more than ten years.

Until the year before last, thanks to the national poverty alleviation policy, we owned a house in our hometown of Huining. My father has also been working in his hometown. After graduation, I stepped into society. My home environment is relatively stable. Last year, my father bought a car, and it is more convenient to come and go.

I have been working as a programmer for an Internet company in Shanghai for more than three years. It is a start-up company that provides business services. There are my alumni and friends in it, and the atmosphere is great. I have grown a lot in the company in terms of technology, vision, work ability and communication skills.

I also made some good friends in Shanghai, including some from poor rural areas like mine. They are hardworking and honest, and when there is a problem, they will help each other. I feel fortunate. With my current salary, I have no other expenses except for living expenses, books and courses, and I can save some money every month.

Of course, I am not satisfied with the status quo, when I chose to be a programmer, which is that this occupation is pure, with no workplace intrigue, I am a real technical person. Besides, I have more freedom. If I want to achieve an idea, a computer is enough, which is suitable for people like me who like to explore and learn. In my interview, I stated the purpose of doing technology: "Technology solves problems, technology creates value, technology creates equity, and technology preserves justice." The purpose has never changed and will not change.

Thanks for the care and help from the uncles and aunts of Care Action Macao and Sister Lai Jiexin. After joining the company, I insisted on learning every day, constantly communicating and consulting with the outstanding people around me, so as to update my cognition and improve myself. I know that the ideal is not shouted out by slogans, but should be a rational doer. Through technology entrepreneurship, I want to give myself enough power and capital, like Care Action Macao uncle aunts, uncle Lai teacher, and a pure heart elder sister, and Ran, believe they donate every kindness germination, lambe, blossom in every heart. I hope to have the opportunity to become a member of Care Action Macao, help others, and benefit society.
