THREE POLES DECLARATION (6)

Dr. Rebecca Lee

Five years ago, AT the Golden Dragon Hotel in Kunming, I held a seminar with tourism workers from all over the country to discuss the trend of self-guided travel around the world. I also got to know Mr. Li Rongtian, a young man from chengdu hotel Promotion Department.

This time, my flight arrived in Chengdu, and he came to meet me. When I got off the plane and finished the formalities, I saw Mr. Li picking me up when I got out of the airport. He seemed to be a little fatter than before. He drove a military car and took forty minutes to get to the Chengdu Hotel. In order to support my tripole expedition, Mr. Li arranged to give me free accommodation, thank you very much.

The Chengdu Hotel has been renovated and is now a modern hotel. Chengdu is no stranger to me, and this is my third visit to her.

Sichuan is a large province, the capital of which is Chengdu, an ancient city with a history of more than two thousand years. It was once the main capital of Liu Bei, who dreamed of conquering the Central Plains and unifying China from here, but it was a pity that he failed later. So, there are many relics of The Three Kingdoms, the most famous of which is Zhuge Liang's temple. More than 1,200 years ago, Du Fu, the famous poet of the Tang Dynasty, built a thatched cottage here to live in. Today, the thatched cottage is still standing and tourists come here to pay their respects.

In the five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, the later Shu was established here. Meng Chang, the king of Shu, planted hibiscus trees all over the city, which blossomed in September and looked beautiful. Therefore, Chengdu was also called "Hibiscus City".

The ancient city of Chengdu has beautiful scenery and I live here immersed in historical memories.
